Chris Charles: Byrd’s
Of A Feather

Democrats are amazingly loyal to their own,
even when one of their own is a complete racist. I don’t want to speak ill of the dead here but all of the glowing praise
for the late Robert Byrd is getting ridiculous. I understand that the man just died but we can’t just forget that in
addition to being a long serving US Senator from West Virginia, Byrd was also a long time racist, Ku Klux Klan member, and
outspoken critic of civil rights legislation in the 1960’s.
All we hear now are tributes for the ‘loveable’ old Statesman. Obituaries
speak of his dedication to the Senate and the Constitution, as well as his compassion. Pundits and politicians
marvel at his 50 plus years of service in Congress but they omit the part about Byrd filibustering the 1964 Civil Rights Act
and using the N-word on television. Imagine if Byrd were a Republican, Democrats would be lining up to spit on his grave but
since he was a Democrat they line up to honor the man.
Even President Obama is honoring the former Klan member; he called Byrd a ‘voice of principle and reason’.
Are you kidding me? Racist principles, maybe. Was he acting on his ‘principles’ when he voted against both Thurgood
Marshall and Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court? As a black man, you might think that President Obama would be outraged
that an overt racist was allowed to serve in the US Congress for over 50 years. I wonder what Byrd would have thought of Barack
Obama 40 or 50 years ago?
“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side…Rather I should die a thousand times,
and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race
mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.” –Robert Byrd 1944.
Not only is Byrd being remembered as an all around good guy by Democrats, he is receiving an honor that no other Senator
has been given since 1959. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has arranged for Byrd’s casket to lie in repose inside
the Senate chamber as a tribute to a man the once said on the very same Senate floor that black people’s brains were
smaller than white people’s.
President Obama and Vice-President Biden are even attending Byrd’s funeral. It is one thing to be polite
after someone dies but President Obama and the Dems are acting like this guy was Abe Lincoln or something. His did serve for
a very long time in Congress but isn’t it an embarrassment that a former Ku Klux Klan member served for so long?
Remember, the Klan isn’t
just a bunch of old bigots that get together at the local VFW hall to dress up in sheets and talk about how much they hate
blacks. The Klan, especially when Byrd was a member, would harass, beat, torture, and murder black people. They targeted black
leaders and their families, they even bombed black churches. And Robert Byrd was not only a member he was even given the title
of ‘Exalted Cyclops’.
This is the man being remembered today as a great American? Robert Byrd represents all that was wrong with America during
the Jim Crow era. I cannot see how a party that now focuses so much on diversity and tolerance can honor a man that represented
intolerance and bigotry. Later in life Byrd did renounced his racist past but one questions the sincerity of a man that would
hold such hateful views in the first place.

Chris
Charles: Diversity Goals

As a nation
we Americans could really care less about soccer, at least until we get screwed royally by the referees at the World Cup,
then we care. As you may or may not know the World Cup of soccer (or football as it is known everywhere else) is one of the
biggest sporting events in the world. It is estimated that over one billion people will be following as 32 nations play in
South Africa for the cup.
The World Cup only comes along once every four years and teams from nearly every nation on earth attempt to qualify
for the tournament. Over 200 countries fight it out to be one of the 32 teams that get to play in the World Cup finals. Only
15% of the countries that attempted to qualify actually made it to South Africa, only the best in the world make it.
Likewise the players are the
best in the world as well, the participants are all professional players and most play in the European professional leagues
which are regarded as the best in the world.
Many great soccer players do not even make the cut on their own national
team. The competition is fierce, roster spots are not guaranteed, even to the best in the world. For example, AC Milan midfielder
Ronaldinho did not make the Brazilian National team for the 2010 world Cup despite being one of the greatest players in the
world. You might recognize Ronaldinho from his Nike TV commercials that air here in the States. Ronaldinho not making the
Brazilian roster for the World Cup would be like Kobe Bryant not making the team USA basketball roster for the Olympics. Suffice
it to say, the best of the best are playing down in South Africa.
World Cup venues are selected years in advance, so that the necessary improvements
can be made to infrastructure. World Cup matches are only permitted to be held at world class stadiums. Most World Cup Stadiums’
are newly built specifically for the event. In the case of South Africa five of the ten venues were build new for the World
Cup, the other five underwent extensive renovations and expansion to make them worthy of hosting such a prestigious event.
Even the official
match ball of the World Cup is the latest and greatest of soccer ball design. But when it comes to the referees on the ‘pitch’,
race and nationality are more important than experience and skill. Soccer has never been known for having great refs and now
we know why. Soccer’s governing body FIFA goes out of its way to insure a ‘diverse’ and ‘multi-cultural’
group of World Cup referees. Unfortunately, they do not go out of their way to insure a competent group of refs.
As mentioned earlier, most
of the top professional soccer leagues in the world are in Europe. It would make sense if most of the top referees also were
from Europe but FIFA insists on having EVERYONE represented. That includes the African confederation, which does not have
a very deep field of qualified World Cup referees for FIFA to choose from. None the less, FIFA went ahead and made Koman Coulibaly
from Mali a World Cup referee.
Coulibaly had never refereed anything close to a World Cup before he was assigned
to the United States vs Slovenia match last week. The biggest tournament he had officiated to that point was the African Cup of Nations which hardly qualifies
him to referee a World Cup game. To make matters worse he blew a call in the Final match of that tournament earlier this year.
His nickname is ‘sleepy eyes’ for God sakes! Maybe FIFA should have been tipped off by that, after his performance
last Friday they should call him ‘blind eyes’.
In case you missed it, here is what happened. The US fell behind early 2-0, before
staging an improbable come back to level the score at 2-2. With just minutes left in the match, the Americans were awarded
a free kick from just outside the penalty area. Landon Donovan took the free kick and shaped it over the top of the Slovenian
defenders and on to the foot of American Maurice Edu who buried the ball in the back of the net for the go ahead goal. During
the play several American players were being held by Slovenian defenders, including Michael Bradley who was nearly tacked
American football style by his defender. Inexplicably, the ref (Coulibaly) blew his whistle and signaled a foul against the
Americans.
Now, if
you know anything about soccer you know that the refereeing is always questionable at best but this was blatantly obvious.
It will go down as one of the worst calls in World Cup history which is really saying something. Jim Joyce thinks that guy
made a terrible call. You’ll remember Joyce as the Baseball ump that choked a call that cost Detroit Tigers pitcher
Armando Galaragga a perfect game. He proved that even experienced officials with a good track record can sometimes screw up
a call but at least when he messed up he ‘manned up’ and admitted his mistake, Koman Coulibaly refused to even
explain his decision much less admit his error. He is now known the world over, for all the wrong reasons.
Being known as a terrible soccer ref is like
being known as a slutty hooker. Of Course Koman Coulibaly is now the butt of jokes around the world and is detested by US
soccer fans but the real blame should lay with FIFA. They were the ones that hired this guy because of his race and because
he was from Africa. He was obviously in over his head, Coulibaly does not even speak English which is the primary language
used by World Cup officials! After he disallowed the American goal, US Carlos Bocanegra and others tried to question ole ‘sleepy
eyes’ about the call. According to the team he couldn’t understand a word they were saying, which may have been
a good thing for the Americans given the choice vocabulary they were likely using at the time.
FIFA has now come out and said that Coulibaly will not officiate
any more games in this year’s World Cup which is a day late and a dollar short for the American team which had a victory
stolen from them because of FIFA’s desire to be ‘inclusive’ and ‘diverse’ instead of fair and
just.

Chris Charles: No Justice, No
Peace!

Something called the Global Peace Index has
ranked the United States 85th out of 149 countries. And all this time we thought the US was a force for peace and
freedom in the world. Of course our efforts to spread peace and freedom across the globe don’t compare to the efforts
of countries like Bosnia and Nicaragua. Who will ever forget the sacrifices made by countries like Zambia and The United Arab
Emirates to fight fascism and totalitarianism so that the world would remain free?
What do they even mean by peace? How do they define it? Is peace
merely the absence of war? France sure was a peaceful country back in 1940, and what did they get for it? They got their country
taken over by homicidal maniacs. 90,000 French Jews were murdered by the Nazis during the four year occupation.
It took a decidedly less peaceful country,
the United States, to liberate the pacifist French. The US came across the Atlantic to save the day with our tanks and our
bombs and our guns. The ‘violent’ American military allowed the French to again reside in peace.
The funny thing
about peace is it requires force, or at least the threat of force to maintain it. Sure EVERYONE seeks peace but there will
always be nations or forces that do not seek peace, they seek to dominate peaceful countries.
There are some that think it is better to surrender and yield
to oppressive regimes, rather than take a stand and FIGHT for peace. They would say it is better to live on your knees than
it is to die on your feet. What those people fail to realize is there can be no peace for people living in tyranny. Ronald
Reagan once said that, “Peace is more than just the absence of war. True peace is justice, true peace is freedom. And
true peace dictates the recognition of human rights”.
Some of the more ‘peaceful’ countries ranked AHEAD of the US in the peace
index include China, Cuba, and Libya. Not exactly standard bearers’ of peace, liberty, and human rights in the world.
These countries are three of the most oppressive and brutal nations on earth!
In Cuba, people have no freedoms to speak of; political dissidents
are either imprisoned or murdered. Cubans have been living under Fidel Castro’s dictatorial regime since 1959 and since
then the Cuban people have lived in abject poverty. They are prisoners on their island nation, barred from fleeing the misery
by the Communist government. Ask the Cuban people how peaceful their lives are in Cuba.
In Libya, freedoms are also limited but more concerning to peace-loving
people everywhere is their sponsorship of Islamic terrorism. Muslim jihadists operate within Libya with impunity. Libyan leader
Muammar Gaddafi allows terrorist training camps to operate within Libya. What says ‘peace’ more than Muslim terrorists?
In 1988 terrorists within the Libyan government shot down Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie Scotland, killing 270 people. Yes,
VERY peaceful indeed.
In
China human rights are non-existent, there is no freedom of speech, there is no freedom of the press, there is no freedom
period. While the US was busy saving Europe from the Third Reich, Asia from Imperial Japan, and the rest of the world from
the threat of a Soviet Communist takeover, China’s Communist government was busy exterminating an estimated 50 to 70
million people. They call that PEACE? How peaceful could a country be, that would run over one of its own citizens, a non-violent
protester, with a TANK? Has the Global Peace Index ever heard of Tibet? In 1950, the ‘peaceful’
Chinese launched a Nazi like takeover and occupation of Tibet. Tibetans have been under the iron fisted control of the Communist
Chinese ever since. And the only thing that prevented Taiwan from suffering the same fate has been, you guessed it, the United
States of America.
There
are times when peace can only be achieved through conflict. It’s great to be non-confrontational and neutral like Switzerland
but without righteous countries willing to defend peace, there could never be peace. The United States does engage in armed
conflicts when necessary but we do so to promote and preserve the blessings of peace and liberty to all of mankind.

Chris Charles: Close Encounters
of the Third World

Part III:
The Innocent & The Illegals
I know all illegal immigrants
come here for a ‘better life’ but what about those that come here to deal drugs, gangbang, and murder people?
What should we do about them? Americans are being murdered by illegal alien criminals at an alarming rate because the authorities
cannot or will not do anything about it.
Illegal aliens make up 30% of the prison population in the United States, in New Mexico nearly half of the
people incarcerated are illegals. And before you ask, they are not in jail for being illegal. They are in jail for committing
violent crimes like robbery, kidnapping, child molestaion, rape, and murder. According to the FBI, 95% of arrest warrants
for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens. One report found that 12 Americans are murdered each day by illegal aliens.
That is 4,380 people a year, dead, because our government refuses to act.
In 2002 LA County Sheriff’s Deputy David March was shot and killed
while making a routine traffic stop. His killer, Armando Garcia, was an illegal alien drug dealer that had previously been
deported no fewer than three times. When Deputy March approached Garcia’s car, Garcia shot him in the chest. Instead
of fleeing the scene, Garcia exited his car and proceeded to shoot Deputy March in the head at point blank range, killing
him. To add further insult to the March family Garcia has avoided prosecution by escaping to Mexico where he remains a free
man. Mexico does not extradite criminals facing the death sentence or even life in prison, mean time Mexican President Felipe
Calderon lectures us about human rights. What about David March’s human rights? What about his family’s right
to see justice done in this case?
In 2008 another illegal alien gang member, Edwin Ramos, murdered Tony Bologna and his two sons as they drove
in their car in San Francisco. What did the Bologna family do to deserve a death sentence from Ramos? Apparently Ramos was
in a hurry that day; their capital crime was merely getting in Ramos’ way. Ramos had previously been convicted of two
other felonies but neither time did the authorities in the ‘sanctuary city’ bother to report Ramos’ immigration
status to Federal authorities. Instead they sent the MS-13 gang member to a ‘resort’ so sorts for troubled youth.
This man was not a day laborer or a fruit picker; he was a member of a violent Central American street gang that had committed
previous felonies. The blood of the Bologna family is on San Francisco, they knew Ramos was a gang member, they knew he was
arrested for robbing a pregnant woman. They knew he was illegal, and still they did nothing. Now three innocent people are
dead and Mrs. Bologna is left to live the rest of her shattered life alone.
Also in 2008, 17-year-old Jamiel Shaw was walking home from the Beverly
Center Mall on the west side of Los Angeles, when illegal alien gangbanger Pedro Espinosa drove up and asked him ‘where
he was from’ (gang slang meaning ‘what gang do you belong to’). When Shaw could not answer, Espinosa shot
the boy in the head and again in the back, killing him. Jamiel Shaw could not answer the question because he was not a gang
member, he wasn’t a criminal; he was a star high school football player and a GOOD KID! He had no criminal record; he
had never been in trouble. He came from a good family; his mother was off serving in our armed forces in Iraq at the time
of her son’s murder. He had nothing wrong, yet Jamiel had his life ended at just 17. He parents are left grief-stricken,
asking why this had to happen. The truth is that this should not have happened because Espinosa was in police custody (on
gun charges no less) just hours before he fatally shot Jamiel Shaw. Instead of turning Espinosa over to immigration officials,
the LA County Sheriff’s Department returned him to the streets where he would soon cut short a promising young life.
Mrs. Shaw made it back from Iraq safely to bury her son; the family wonders why Jamiel couldn’t make it home safely
from the local mall.
For
those that are so compassionate toward illegal aliens, where is your compassion for the innocent victims of illegal alien
violence? At the base of the Statue of Liberty it reads “Give me your tired, you poor, your huddled masses yearning
to breathe free”. It does not say, ‘give us your criminals, your gangbangers, your dregs of society yearning to
work the system’.

Chris Charles: Close Encounters
Of The Third World

Part II: When In Rome Do As The Emperor Does
We all know where President Obama stands on illegal immigration; he stands against the will of the American
people and for open borders with Mexico. But what about Mexican President Philippe Calderon? Of all people, you would think
he would understand our desire to stop illegal immigration. After all, Calderon’s government does not tolerate ‘undocumented
migrants’ in Mexico.
And that is putting it lightly, until recently illegal immigration INTO Mexico could get a person locked up in a Mexican
prison for two years! Those that did not learn their lesson and were caught in Mexico illegally for a second time faced up
to ten years! I would not wish ten years in a Mexican prison on my worst enemy, let alone some poor migrant (probably only
on his way up to illegally immigrate to the US). I don’t care how great America is, you’d have to be nuts to risk
hard time in Mexico! Is Guatemala really that bad?
Calderon has some nerve coming to the US and telling us that WE’RE unfair. We aren’t the ones
imprisoning illegals. In the US, illegals (if they are arrested at all) are given due process and afforded every right an
American citizen would have. If in the end they are found to be here illegally, they are simply flown back to their country
of origin. Not exactly five to ten at the state pen.
Recently Mexico amended their draconian immigration law, as Felipe Calderon points out to anyone
who will listen. No longer will the ‘Federales’ throw you in prison for being illegal, they will simply shake
you down for money and then send you back where you came from!
When Calderon was asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer if illegals from Central and
South American are allow to stay in Mexico, Calderon replied, “no”. So what does Calderon’s government do
with illegals that are caught in Mexico now? According to ‘El Presidente’ himself, “We send back them”.
Translation for those that do not speak ‘Spanglish’, he means to say, ‘they are deported’.
What a coincidence, that’s what we want to do here in America!
‘Send back them’ illegal aliens, just like Mexico ‘sends back them’ illegals. If it is not racist
and fascist in Mexico, why would it be racist and fascist here in the US?
Calderon obviously has no problem deporting people in his country illegally,
but how does Mexico determine who is legal and who is illegal? President Calderon seemingly has a big problem with authorities
in Arizona inquiring about a person’s ‘immigration status’. If they don’t ask about it, how do they
do it in Mexico? Telepathy? Are illegal immigrants, once there, given amnesty and granted full rights as Mexican citizens?
Definitely not, they must have some way to establish who is illegal. The term ‘Show me your papers’ came from
somewhere, and it wasn’t Maricopa County, Arizona.
Calderon can’t really be serious about his criticism of Arizona. If Arizona is Nazi Germany, Mexico
must be the seventh circle of Hell! Maybe he was trying to make President Obama happy while he was visiting the White House,
you know, ‘when in Rome do as the Romans do’. Or at least ‘when in Rome do as the Emperor does’.
