Chris Charles: The Party Of
Know

Just say NO! That is what we tell kids
to say to someone offering drugs, why not say the same to liberal legislation. There is nothing wrong with saying ‘no’
to ideas that will be bad for the country. The GOP should be proud to be the party of ‘no’, given that the Dems
are apparently the party of massive debt and super-massive government. If the Republicans are the ‘party of no’
then the Democrats are the ‘party of go’, the only problem is they are headed in the wrong direction.
The GOP has a duty to reject
legislation that will further damage the country; their oath of office requires that. There is nothing wrong with saying ‘no’
if you know that saying yes will hurt the county. Therefore I propose the GOP call themselves ‘the party of know’.
Republicans KNOW that
out of control government overspending will lead to massive debt, they should say NO to even more deficit spending. It’s
very simple, don’t spend more than you make. Responsible people just have to say no to things they really want, until
they are able afford them.
Republicans KNOW tax hikes will only further drive down the US economy, they should say NO to placing an even greater
burden upon the shoulders of the American taxpayer. They also know that raising taxes will actually decrease tax revenue.
The higher the taxes the less money people have to spend which slows the economy as well as the flow of cash to the feds.
Republicans KNOW
that cap and trade legislation will have a disastrous impact on the US economy, they should say NO to the crippling of American
industry. They should also say no to the global warming racket in general. The global warming ‘consensus’ has
always been based on junk science as was recently illustrated by the ‘climategate’ scandal.
Republicans KNOW
that government run health insurance will lead to a decrease in the quality of the American health care system, they should
say NO to another massive government entitlement program, especially when the country is already under a mountain of debt.
Republicans KNOW that
civilian trials for terrorists put our national security at risk; they should say NO to moving dangerous terrorists from Guantanamo
Bay to US prisons. Affording Muslim jihadists the rights afforded to American citizens is the wrong thing to do.
To compromise on these important
issues would not be conducive to a successful America. Democrats always are looking for Republicans to ‘compromise’
their positions, and by ‘compromise’ I mean completely abandon them and adopt liberal positions. Liberals never
compromise their positions. And since when is ‘compromise’ a good thing? Politicians love compromise, but what
does that really mean? In one definition, ‘compromise’ means exposure to danger or disgrace. I would say that
apply describes what happens when the GOP bows to pressure from the Democrats, forgets what they know to be true and
says 'yes'.

Charles: A Crime Worse Than Death: Part II

It seems to me that lawmakers in certain parts of the country do not have their priorities in order; normally law abiding
celebrities are getting long prison sentences for gun possession.
Plaxico Burress: two years in jail for shooting
himself. Gilbert Arenas: facing 12-18 months in lock up for gun possession.
Meanwhile, other athletes with much
more serious offenses face little to no jail time. Jayson Williams: 0 days for killing a man. Donte Stallworth: 24 days for
DUI manslaughter.
Authorities want to make examples of prominent people, the problem is real criminals are
walking free. If only the authorities would be as strict on hard core criminals like gang members as they are on gangsta rappers
with a Glock tucked in their waistline, America would be much safer.
Case in point: rapper ‘Lil Wayne’
will be heading to the slam for up to a year following an arrest on gun possession charges, although in Wayne’s case
he seem oddly excited about the prospect of jail time. If he’s is okay with, I’m not going to lose sleep over
it, I’m glad he is getting some ‘street cred’ from this but I still feel that a year in jail is too harsh,
even if he doesn’t. After all another hip-hop star, R Kelly got a much lighter punishment (zero days) after he was accused
of child rape, this despite video evidence showing R engaging in Sex acts with a fourteen year old. Kelly was again arrested
on separate child porn and statutory rape charges but those charges were dropped because cops did not have probable cause
to search the Grammy winner.
St Louis Rams defensive end Leonard Little killed somebody with his car while
driving under the influence, he got a 90 day stretch for that, just slightly more jail time than Paris Hilton got for her
DUI. I bet if Little had a handgun with him in the car at the time he’d get 90 years. Oh well, at least that 90 days
in the slammer will cause the former Pro-Bowler to think twice before again getting behind the wheel sauced. Or at least you
might think so, Little was again arrested for DUI, only this time he spend no time in jail.
It seems to me
that the only thing athletes and celebrities can be jailed for is gun possession. If OJ had used a gun instead of a knife
would he have been found guilty?
As hard as this may be to believe, the second amendment of the US constitution
was not enacted so that footballers, rock and rollers, and rappers could walk around town with a pistol shoved down their
pants. It was however created so that citizens could defend themselves. If bad guys carry guns, how are good guys supposed
to defend themselves? Do the gun grabbers think that criminals are going register their firearms? Bank robbers, murders, gang
members, and apparently pro athletes don’t care about gun laws, even if liberals do! The only people that follow gun
laws are law abiding people, trust me your local chapter of MS 13 does not register their arsenal of weapons nor so they apply
for concealed carry permits.
In 2007, another prominent football player, Sean Taylor, was shot in his home by armed intruders looking to rob the
Washington Redskins star safety. Perhaps if he had had a weapon he could have defended himself, instead the 23 year old Taylor
died the next day from injuries sustained from a gunshot wound. Did liberal gun laws deter Taylor from carrying a weapon?
Of that I am unsure, I am sure that they didn’t deter his murderers.

Charles: A Crime Worse Than Death: Part I

In California, prison overcrowding will soon set 40,000 inmates free. I am hoping all forty thousand will be non-violent
criminals that have learned their lesson and will renounced their life of crime, but I kinda doubt that. If California wants
to avoid releasing thousands upon thousands of hard core prisoners perhaps they should call New York because they have plenty
of room in their prisons, or so it seems. New York is sending people with no criminal record to the hole for YEARS at a time
for simple gun possession.
Last year NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress was sentence to TWO YEARS in the slam for, wait
for it, accidentally shooting HIMSELF! Not a cop, not a friend, not even an enemy! It’s a good thing Former Vice President
Dick Cheney didn’t accidentally blast his hunting buddy in the face with buckshot in New York; he may have got the CHAIR
for that. Was Plax stupid? Yes. But stupidity shouldn’t carry with it a 2 year jail term. If prison time were the sentence
for stupidity, half the country would be locked up right now.
Don’t misunderstand, I believe in the rule of law,
but I also think the punishment should fit the crime. If a prominent athlete should be institutionalized for two years for
accidentally shooting himself, why then is former NBA star Jayson Williams still free? Williams accidentally shot, and killed
a limo driver at his home in 2001. As of yet Williams has spent exactly zero days in jail for that crime. The former New Jersey
Net has even been arrested on two separate occasions since the shooting, three if you count the time cops tasered a suicidal
Williams and took him to the hospital and still Williams is free and Burress is using soap on a rope.
Another star athlete,
Gilbert Arenas, is facing hard time in the hole for merely POSSESSING a gun without a proper license in Washington DC. Again,
if you own a gun, you should do so lawfully but I don’t think possession of a gun should be a reason to send an otherwise
law abiding citizen to jail. At least in the Burress case, Plaxico shot somebody, even if it was himself. Gil didn’t
shoot himself or anyone else, haven’t these people heard of fines or community service?
As the Washington Wizards All-Star guard gets ready to fend off
prison rapists, other athletes that have KILLED people only have to worry about fending off tacklers. For example, last year
Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth struck and killed a man while driving drunk. Stallworth spent just 24 days in jail for
that, that’s not exactly what I’d call throwing the book at him.

Chris Charles: One Giant Leap…Backwards

In
fifty years we have gone from JFK vowing to put a man on the moon at any cost, to BHO vowing to not send men back to the moon,
because of the cost.
That’s
right those strict fiscal disciplinarians in the Obama Administration are worried about over spending. If this is the first time you have heard of the Obama Administration
actually cutting anything, that’s because this is the first time they have cut anything. You may remember that last
week President Obama proposed an across the board discretionary spending freeze but that doesn’t cut anything, it merely
keeps spending levels at current levels. The problem is current spending levels are astronomical, so freezing those levels
does not really help. Neither does spending even more on new programs like a second stimulus, high speed rail, and new private
jets for Speaker Pelosi.
Let me get this straight, no more manned space flight but clean needle programs are here to stay?
At least the President is not cutting defense
spending, yet. President Obama has said that the military is going to be exempt from the upcoming spending freeze. That however,
did not go over well with the aforementioned Madam Pelosi. She of course feels that military spending SHOULD be frozen, despite
the fact that we are engaged in not one but two wars at the moment. If Nancy Pelosi had her way the US military would consist
of a small fleet of hybrid Humvee’s, three tugboats, and a Gulfstream V (for personal use).
The only way to cut spending the Dems have
ever know, is to Cut military spending or just raise taxes. They never ever, ever cut their precious social programs. Democrats
would defund Police and firemen, before they would defund the Department of Housing and Urban Development. I guess we should be happy that Democrats are at all concerned
with budget deficits and increasing debt, ordinarily they are content to just keep on spending. Although, if they are really
going to begin to control spending they are going to need to cut more than one thing!
Why is NASA the only government agency getting the ax? NASA has
always been a bright spot for the US, they not only have been space pioneers but they have also contributed greatly to the
US being the world leader in military aeronautics. The achievements of NASA have made Americans proud and are in no small
way responsible for the United States’ position as the world’s preeminent nation.
NASA scientists broke the sound barrier, build space stations,
created the space shuttle, sent a man to the moon, and were preparing to do so again until the budget hawks within the Obama
Administration pulled their funding.
What are all of these luminous minds supposed to do now? Work at the DMV? NASA is home to some of the most
brilliant scientists the world has ever known, what does the President suggest they do now that the National Aeronautic and
Space Administration is no longer in the aeronautics and space business? According to the Commander-in-Chief, for the time
being, the super-intelligent rocket scientists at NASA should turn their attention to studying global warming! That’s
not a joke, the Obama Administration wants NASA to go from designing and launching rockets capable of sending men into earth
orbit and beyond in favor of drilling for ice core samples somewhere in Antarctica.
