Part II: No Papers? No Problem (Just Be Sure To Vote Democrat)

Conservatives do not have a problem with immigrants; we have a problem with illegal ones. Oh, how insensitive of us; why can’t we have more empathy for these poor souls just looking for a shot at the American dream?

The answer is very simple; America has laws and those laws must be followed. I hate that I cannot drive as fast as I want on the freeway; that doesn’t mean I can choose not to follow that law. How great would it be if we could all choose which laws not to follow?

Illegal immigrant interest groups and a majority of Democrats (liberals) say that conservatives are, at best insensitive, at worst racist because we want our immigration laws enforced! (What a radical concept). Liberals feel that it is a God given right to live in the United States, regardless of immigration status. Supporters of illegal immigration equate a group of people running across the southern border to the immigrants coming to Ellis Island in New York. They say that conservatives fight illegal immigration because illegals are mostly of Hispanic heritage; as opposed to the Ellis Island immigrants who were mostly European settlers (white people). The real reason is that they came the legal way! They had ‘papers’; they came to the US through the proper channels. This has nothing to do with race, if millions of white Canadians were flowing across the northern border illegally, conservatives would say, “Send their asses back to the tundra”.

A country with no border will not be a country for very long. According to most studies there are between 12 and 20 million illegals living in the US right now, some even put the number as high as 40 million. The total number of people living in the US is around 300 million (1). If we assume that 20 million are here illegally that means that approximately 7 percent of the population is illegal. Liberals do not see this as problematic? The facts are illegal immigration presents a list of problems.

1.   Economic

Illegals are a huge drag on our economy; the Center for Immigration Studies found that the average illegal household costs taxpayers around $2,700 annually, that is after adjusting for taxes paid by illegals(2). Conservatives are not xenophobic, we are “taxophobic” that $2,700 for every illegal household comes to about $20 billion that the American tax payer shoulders every year to support illegal aliens.

2.   Harm to legal immigrants

Some will argue that $20 billion every year is quite a reasonable price to pay to give 20 million people the American dream; but what about the millions of people around the world that are waiting for their opportunity to come to America? These people wait their turn in line honestly, while every day, people flood across our southern border. This is essentially cutting in line. Cutting is not allowed in kindergarten, and yet liberals reward the immigration line cutters. Most people, if someone cuts in line at the grocery store, are ready to fight, literally! Because it is just flat out unfair.  Not only do illegals make legal immigrants wait longer to come to this country, they give them a bad name when they get here. Many legal immigrants are suspect from the moment they arrive in this country; some assume that all immigrants are illegal; especially people immigrating from Mexico and Latin America. If cutting in line at the grocery story upsets us so much, imagine how upset the millions waiting at the back of the immigration line are to see the 12-40 million line cutters rewarded for their actions.

3.   Crime

Most conservatives do not necessarily blame hard working immigrants that come here illegally. It is understandable to want to live and work in this great country.  Unfortunately, not all illegal immigrants come here to work hard and support their families. Because the southern border is not controlled, anyone can come into the US. Along with day laborers and grape pickers, gang members and criminals also make their way into our cities. Liberals that make it nearly impossible to find out a person’s immigration status, not to mention that it takes an act of God to deport an illegal alien these days. This means that illegal alien criminals are not deported, the only thing we can do is throw them in jail, and we do. Illegals make up about 7% of the national population, yet they make up 27% of the US prison population (3). Not all illegals are here to work, many are here to rape, steal, and kill. In 2006, illegals murdered 12 people every day in the US (4). That means that nearly 4,400 American lives could be saved every year if we only enforced our immigration laws.

4.   Cheap Labor

Liberals and immigrant rights groups are not the only ones that support illegal immigration; some dishonest business owners take advantage of the cheap labor that illegals offer. Apparently, in this case, big business taking advantage of the poor downtrodden workers does not offend the liberal’s sensibilities. However, if Wal-Mart fails to give every single part time employee on their books $30 an hour and a gold-lined health care plan, it is a reason to riot! Intellectually honest conservatives are the people who really stand up for the rights of immigrants. We fight so-called Republicans and business lobbyists that allow illegals to work for less than legal wages. This also drives down wages for American workers that do the same type of work. Guess who usually does that type of work? You got it, legal immigrants! Conservatives fight for the rights of the millions of legal immigrants in the US as well as those who are still stuck in line behind the 12-40 million illegals who cut in front of them.

5.   Quid pro quo

You have to ask yourself; why is it that liberal Democrats support this insanity? It seems like liberals just support lawlessness. That may be true, but it is not the main reason. Liberals not only want illegal immigrants here, they want to make them citizens! Why is that important to liberals? Citizens can vote and former illegal aliens are sure to vote for the Democratic Party, given their loyal support of their cause. Although, Liberal Republicans like President Bush and John McCain have attempted to co-opt the liberals idea, but that didn’t work because conservatives put up a big stink. Conservatives tend to be sticklers about little things like law and order. We are also big on fairness and equality, even if it will cost votes.

Preface

Conservatism stands for liberty and justice for all Americans. Conservatives believe in individual freedom.  Conservatives do not force oppressive legislation upon citizens. Conservatism fights for the rights of all Americans to keep more of their hard earned money. Conservatism seeks to defend this country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. So, why do Democrats overwhelmingly win the minority vote? Do minorities not believe in these things? I think they do, so it must be something else that is at play here…

Part I: A Brief History of the GOP

Slavery was the greatest mistake this country ever made, and liberals are quick to point that fact out to people that love America. They love to call this a ‘racist nation’ that was built on the backs of slaves.  These America haters fail to mention that it was conservatives who opposed slavery; it was a Republican President that signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was conservatives and Republicans that fought for the 13^th Amendment to the Constitution, which abolished slavery once and for all. They forget that it was conservatives that passed the 14^th and 15^th Amendments that granted equal protection and voting rights to all citizens, regardless of color. They also don’t mention that the first blacks in Congress were Republicans all the way back in the 1860’s. It wasn’t until 1934 that Democrats elected a black man to the US House of Representatives. The GOP had the fortitude of character to do what was right, even though to do nothing would have been much easier.

Anti-slavery conservatives were fought tooth and nail by the Democratic Party. The Democrats actively supported slavery; they opposed the 13^th, 14^th, and 15^th Amendments to the US Constitution.  In fact, supporting slavery was their overriding agenda at the time.

That was a long time ago though; we shouldn’t judge the Dems on what their political ancestors did nearly 150 years ago, that would be unfair. We all make mistakes and we should all be forgiven as long as we admit our mistakes and take corrective action.

What’s that? You mean to tell me that the DNC spent the next 100 years trying to hold black people down? I don’t believe it!

Yes. The party of inclusion and diversity is really the party of exclusion and persecution. The party of Al Sharpton is the party of Jim Crow. The Party of the NAACP is also the party of the Ku Klux Klan.

After Republicans defeated slavery and passed the 13^th, 14^th, and 15^th Amendments, the Democratic Party went from a pro-slavery platform to an anti-black platform. For more than 100 years, the DNC fought to institutionalize racism in the form of Jim Crow laws, and other segregationist legislation. The Democratic Party and its supporters are the reason that blacks were treated as second class citizens until the late 1960’s. The founding fathers didn’t say that Rosa Parks had to sit in the back of the bus; Democrats did.

Ok, ok, so the Democrats were a little late to recognize that black people should be afforded the inalienable rights guaranteed by our Creator and our Constitution but they supported the civil rights movement of the 1960’s right?

Oh sorry, wrong again! Even 100 years after the Republicans ended slavery, (no thanks to Democrats) 80% of those that opposed the civil rights act of 1964 were Democrats. In stark contrast, more than 80% of GOP Congressman supported the legislation. (1)

Given this long and sad record of being on the wrong side of history, you might expect that the Democratic Party would admit their mistakes and beg Americans (especially black Americans) for forgiveness.

Not a chance!

Instead the DNC simply declared that it was the party of minorities. It became their platform to use minority groups to win elections by insisting that they would fight for them. They insisted that this country was so darn racist that the only way they could be equal, really equal, was to take government handouts. They said that blacks needed help (a lot of help) if they were to be successful in this racist nation. The Democratic Party is the reason racism was so entrenched in our society, for so long.

Over the years the Democratic Party has really changed. In the past, the Dems wanted to take everything from blacks: freedom, land, rights. Now the opposite is true, the DNC wants to give everything to blacks: jobs, housing, health care, ‘extra protections’, money, affirmative action, quotas, and so on.

Somehow, over the last 50 years, too many blacks have bought into this notion that the Democratic Party is the party that fights for blacks. The truth is the DNC is still keeping blacks subjugated with the subtle racism of lower expectations. The Dems have substituted overt racism with a quieter form that claims to advance the standing of blacks in society but really the hand of big brother is holding black people back, keeping them from being truly free. Democrats now celebrate anytime a person of color achieves a position of high standing because that person is a minority. Conservatives celebrate all Americans that are successful regardless of color, creed, or anything else for that matter.

 

Over the July 4th weekend, while you were barbecuing and watching fireworks, North Korea test fired 7 ballistic missiles over the Pacific. While they did not carry nuclear weapons they were not exactly roman candles either. Also, Iran continues to develop its own missile capabilities, not to mention their nuclear capabilities. Both of these countries are lead by homicidal dictators who would like nothing more than to destroy an American city or two, even if it meant the complete annihilation of their own country. Lucky for us, the US has a missile defense system that is capable of shooting down enemy missiles.

Meantime President Obama is meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and has agreed to reduce our stockpile of nuclear weapons by one-third. Even more alarming is that President Obama is under pressure from, not only the Russians but also most of the “world community” to end US programs that could shoot down incoming missiles. So far, the president has not agreed to end US missile defense but he has hinted in the past that the program should be scrapped. Hopefully the president will not fold on this but we all know how much President Obama loves to make friends with the “world community”, even at the expense of the “American community”.

In the 1980’s President Reagan pushed hard for a missile defense system. Critics, (namely Liberals) dubbed the missile defense program “Star Wars” after the 1977 George Lucas film. Liberals cynically said it would never work, what they really meant was they didn’t want it to work. The film Star Wars can teach these liberals a lesson about negotiating with evil powers. When Princess Leia’s home planet was threatened with destruction, she was forced to reveal the location of the secret rebel base. The evil galactic empire then destroyed her planet anyway.   

Liberals normally take a passive approach to defense, (Neville Chamberlain). Liberals always want to take the “diplomatic approach” when dealing with enemies. Conservatives prefer the Reagan method: peace through strength.  That does not mean starting wars all over the world. It means peace is best achieved by maintaining a strong national defense so that foreign enemies are deterred from attacking us. Sound reasonable? Not to most Democrats; they say that a strong defense only escalates hostilities. That may well be, but a weak defense can also escalate hostilities, only we would be left exposed to our enemies. To take this argument a step further, should we not defend our borders because doing so is said to be “hostile” by the “world community? Oh wait, that’s already happening!

Reasons why liberals are against missile defense:

Reason # 1- The “world community” opposes it.

We cannot afford to weaken our national security in order to please the rest of the world, (including our enemies). The rest of the world does not have our best interests in mind, they have their own. Why do liberals care so much about what the rest of the world thinks? If the rest of the world jumped off a bridge, should the US jump too?

Perhaps if the rest of the world remembered that the USA is a force for good in the world, they would agree with us but that is an argument for another time.

For those who would prefer not to have nuclear missiles rain down upon us, strategic missile defense is welcomed. It provides a shield in the event some other nation launches ballistic missiles toward the United States or our allies.

Reason # 2- It’s too complex, it'll never work, it’s too hard, etc.

Missile defense is very complex but it can and will work if given the chance. Here’s how: if an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) is launched toward the US, advanced radar systems would pick up the missile and track it; then a 2-part intercept missile is launched in the direction of the incoming missile. If all goes well the interceptor, traveling 15,000 mph, will collide with the enemy missile, traveling 5,000 mph, approximately 120 miles above the earth(1).  Sounds easy right?

Not really. Missile defense involves inconceivable technical challenges; shooting down an enemy warhead in space is very difficult. That doesn’t mean we should not try. To quote a Democrat; “we choose to do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard”. JFK may have been a Democrat but he was no liberal. If Kennedy were president today he would almost certainly support using missile defense to protect the United States from nuclear attack.

Where would we be as a country if we failed to do anything that was difficult? After Apollo I, did NASA give up on going to the moon? No. Did the US refuse to fight in World War II because it would be too hard? No. Weak-kneed liberals are constantly afraid to do anything with risk involved. Man up, liberals!

Reason # 3- Reducing arms is the key to world peace.

The left in this country believes that reducing arms is the key to maintaining peace, as demonstrated by President Obama in Russia pledging to reduce our nuclear stock pile to 1,500 warheads(2). How will this make us safer? 1,500 nuclear bombs are still enough to destroy the world many times over; so who cares if we reduce our stockpiles? If anything, a move like this will only embolden our enemies because we will be perceived as weak.  This argument is similar to the liberal argument against gun ownership. Nuclear bombs don’t kill, people do.

Another argument for arms reduction is that we are reducing the risk of a former Soviet bomb falling into the ‘wrong hands’. The problem is, the Russians will still have 1,500 nuclear warheads that can still fall into the ‘wrong hands’ and it only takes one rogue nuclear weapon to ruin your whole day.

We cannot let our survival be dependent upon diplomacy alone, missile defense must continue to be developed and funded in order to assure the peace that all of us desire. We cannot assume that all other nations with nuclear weapons will use them responsibly. Some rogue nation might just be crazy enough to launch a warhead or two our way and while we can always launch 1,500 warheads back their way it wouldn’t prevent an American city and all of its inhabitants from being erased from existence.
